Target Audience

The target audience I have chosen for my 6th form magazine will be individuals between the ages of 15 to 18. This is because the individuals between the ages of 16 to 18 will be studying in the 6th form making the magazine and the articles within very relevant. Furthermore the pupils that are around 15 years old will be shortly joining the 6th form and so may be interested in reading the magazine to find out common questions like what to wear?  What to do in frees?

The mixed gender target audience means the magazine will vary, it  will have a variety of different articles within to attract and entertain both genders. For example the females may want to read about fashion whereas the male audience may be more interested in sporting clubs, fixtures and results.  This maximises the amount of individuals reading my magazine and so increases the popularity.  The colour scheme was also thought about and I soon came to the conclusion of using a plain white background with the image and bold reds and blues being used on the front cover. I chose to use this colour scheme as I feel it is suitable for both genders and does not favour one or the other.

As shown above I made a quick serve and asked 100 pupils across year 11, 12 and 13. As you can see music was a clear winner as to what the majority of individuals across the 3 years are most interested in reading about, this was closely followed by sport. This shows a common interest between the pupils across the years. Therefore my 6th form magazine will be mainly about music and sport related articles.
